You know me very well by now Paul... :-) I would say, it depends
a lot on what mounts you use. I started with the EMDE mounts which
are the easiest to use and the best choice for a beginner. All you
need to do is to make sure that you cut the chips well (easy job with
a Realist cutter). You then place the chips in the 4 corner pockets
and you are done! No worrying about windows or vertical alignment.
All is taken care of with these (5p) mounts.
Heat seal mounts are not that easy to use but they can be mastered with
practice. RBT mounts are very easy to master (once you understand the
window and shifting of the chips). I have no problem with the Albions
or Realist (aluminum) mounts. Spicer mounts are the most difficult
*without aid*.
It also depends on what you are trying to mount. Chips from the ISO
Duplex camera proved to be extremely challenging (impossible I'd say)
to mount in Albions or RBTs.
With all mounts, there are only three ways to improve: Practice,
practice, practice! :-)
