Not so fast! :-) We were talking matching lenses... But if you have
a stereo camera with matched lenses (as the vast majority are) and
a place that will mount the slides for you (like Kodak) then slides
can be a perfect place to start. It is a matter of having the
resources and services. Thousands of people in the 50s loaded
their stereo cameras with Kodachrome, shot the film based on standard
guidelines (most did not have lightmeters), returned the film to Kodak
(or Realist?) and got back mounted slides ready to view. Could not
be easier than that. Beginners can do the same today. Can they
shoot a roll of print film and get back mounted prints? I don't
think this service is available any more.
