P3D eBay
>>Just to put a spin on things, I've been told recently by an avid auction
fan that you don't have to be present at a "live" auction, either.
This has been done at auctions for many years. Bids can be made in advance,
though some auction houses have differing rules on how this is handled.
Sometimes this is best handled by an Auction Agent, and will prevent you
from winning a bid by bidding more than you need to bid. There are even
different methods allowed within different departments of the same auction
House. There are also mail bids and telephone bids as well. I used to bid
on U.S. Airmail Postage stamps by using some of these strategies.
eBay seems to get people selling stuff at far higher prices than the item
is really worth. I have seen stamps offered on eBay at 10 times their face
value, that I can purchase in sheet for less than their face value. That is
to say, a stamp that has a face value of 50 cents selling for $20.00 as a
block, that I can buy for 47-48 Cents in full panes. It is a crazy world
indeed.
If you must bid at eBay; forgetting that sometimes the item can be bought
for less and you don't have to wait for the auction to close. Determine
what you want to pay and that becomes your limit. Don't Marry the Item as
they say.
