P3D Twin 35s

Paired 35mm cameras are fun to use. The spacing between the lenses and
the focal lengths control the degree of depth. Scanning and cropping
also affect apparent depth. Since image distortion can affect later
cropping options I prefer to use 50mm taking lenses at lens centers of
7". I only use this for objects further than 20 ft. These paired
Nikkormats are best suited for landscapes and car shows.
Shutter trip is manual sync and thus works poorly for water and people
shots. Sometimes I will sidestep between shots to increase the
baseline. Sometimes I will run tens of meters to take the second shot.
This is especially effective if the subject is a range of mountains ten
miles from where I stand.
A few weeks ago I used my twin rig to shoot the bristle cone pines above
Bishop CA. I also used my Realist to shoot the 4,000 year old trees.
The hypers of the distant Sierras came out well, but the hills closer
than 1mile will have to be cropped in the final jps. The hyper slides
look great if I ignore the foreground.
I have loaded two sample pairs on one of my new sites that I am
constructing.

this require DepthCharge and Netscape (problems with Internet Explorer)
The cloud hyper has some text to describe it. The Ghost Store shot was
taken with a pair of Pentax Spotmatic Fs with Takumar 28mm fls. The
part that I am showing is the upper left quadrant; just 25% of the
frame. This effectively becomes a 50mm lens (because I have zoomed in)
producing an effective baseline of 3 ‡". The 28mm was just too wide
for my subject unless I cropped. My Realist results were much better,
and I may post some of those sometime.
