P3D MIME and outlook express
- From: wier@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (Bob Wier)

Recently in the mailing lists I've noted a big upsurge in messages diverted off because
they are sent in MIME format, which the listserv cannot currently handle. Normally
you'll get the message back with the following...
==================
Note: Listserv 6.0c (the listserver software used here) does not
handle MIME or HTTP code - it will bounce your message (or alternately
silently discard it). Please make SURE you are sending straight ASCII
text. You may need to check the settings in your mail program to make
sure that you do not have "Send quoted printable" or "send http" or
"send MIME" turned on.
==================
To further amplify - the main culprit right at the moment seems to be Microsoft
Outlook Express, which comes by default with MIME encoding turned on (BIG MISTAKE!).
MIME is almost never called for on the internet except when you specifically want to
attach a document to a message.
Generally I just recommend ditching Express and using the shareware Eudora mail program
instead. It's greatly superior in my opinion. However, if you'd like to continue using
Express, please do the following....
Go to the "Tools" menu, select "Options". Under the "Options" panel, select the
line saying "Mail sending format" and click on "plain text". Click "Apply". Click "OK"
That hopefully will fix the problem.
THANKS!
