P3D Another Nimslo Question

In a message dated 11/11/98 11:17:04 GMT, you write:

<< The Reel 3-D guide to Nimslo refers to a modification that allows double
exposure, and mentions designing seperate lense caps, thus 2 different
pairs can be taken before advancing the film. The book refers to a cut
1/4" by 3/4" on the lower left ( facing camera) corner of the plastic
lense surround. Is this cut made under the beveled edge of the surround
starting from the corner? And why such a large cut, is the camera
disassembled first? What tool woud be used to make such a cut? ( the
book is very vague) Also, has anyone found a readily available item that
fits over each lense, or do you use black tape? Thanks for the help.

The front cover is very easy to remove, and this action would make the cutting
of a slot MUCH simpler - if it's possible with the cover in situ at all. Take
out the three screws from the bottom plate, remove the battery cover and the
bottom plate will come off. Peel back the leatherette covering the front plate
(this is easier on the cameras "Made in Japan"...) to reveal the four screws
that retain the front plate. When they are removed, the front plate can be
"hinged up" from the bottom (there's a "lug" that hooks under the edge of the
top plate).

Once you've removed the front plate, you'll see the shutter cocking mechanism,
and the lever that has to be moved across to re cock the shutter without
advancing the film. The design of the slot is entirely up to you, so long as
it allows you to move that lever across!

Regarding the lens covers, again there are lots of options. You could arrange
four flaps, help open or closed with velcro, for instance...

Hope this helps!
