Don't even THINK about converting it to DC!!! :-) :-) :-)
What I THINK you meant is "Should I convert it to low voltage halogen bulbs"
and the answer is "maybe"!!!
I'm sure you'll be able to source the bulbs still - they often turn up at the
Stereoscopic Society Mary Ward Centre Annual Auction, for instance. However,
if you plan to use to projector for more than the occasional show at home, I
suspect that it would be a good idea to put in 24 volt 150 or 250 Watt Halogen
bulbs. The easiest way to source the parts that you will need is to seek out 2
x 2 projectors at Charity (Thrift) stores. Each one, of course, contains a
bulb holder and transformer. 150 watt models are more common, and will
probably enough for home use.
