One of the problems is that several years ago it got very trendy to have
a viewer sitting around in your living room as a decorative item (like the
"weathered barn siding" of a few years ago...). Mostly where I've seen
this done, there are maybe 5 or 6 views, perhaps lithos, making it clear
(slight pun) that it wasn't there for use, but for atmosphere. Be that as
it may, it puts pressure on the supply/demand side of the equation pushing
prices up. And of course there are "high dollar" antique shops in tourist
areas..

I've heard a similar thing is happening in antique autos. The prices for the
circa 30's and 40's autos have peaked and are now falling as the people
who would be interested in them (due to having a history connected with
that generation) are getting too old to do much collecting. However,
late 50's and 60's cars (especially muscle cars that every teenage boy
wanted but
couldn't afford) are rising sharply.

One way to tell if you are getting old is whether the late night tv ads
for music compilations include the songs you grew up with. The 40's big
band stuff has now disappeared and is replaced by 60's and 70's (sigh...)

THANKS
