There have been several installations of mirror stereo viewers overlooking
some landscape. I have read of one at the Grand Canyon, but can't find the
reference. I did save this from p3d:

On the subject of New York City locations, has anybody seen or looked through
the "Optic System" sculpture/viewer at the Helen Hayes Hospital in NYC?
Does it
effectivly create a hyperstereo image of New York? What is seen when looking
through it? Brief mention of this sculpture by Alfons Schilling is made in
the short but
excellent book, "Stereogram" ( Seiji Horibuchi, editor; Cadence Books; 1994)
Apparently, It consists of two very large mirrors coupled with a pair of
smaller
mirrors that effectivly increases the interpupilary distance of your
average Joe
from 70mm to 7 meters. It was installed on top of a hill at the hospital in
1983, and I would like to know if it is still there and in good shape.
Thanks!
