First, get into the habit of carrying a small screwdriver.  Then, save
the 4 screws when you remove the lens cover.  If you want to change
the shutter speeds, just stick the cover on, press it in place and
change the speed.  (It is possible to change the speed without putting
the lens cover on, only you will have no clue if you put the correct
speed on).  I know you would like to remove only the lens cover and
leave the rest on but this is tricky... to do it you have to remove
the entire thing first anyway and you also might damage the lens cover
by doing this).  Another idea is to carry two lens cover assemblies,
one with and one without the cover.
