OK.. that seems to make sense. Its changing the relationship of points in the
"Z" direction.. but because of the deliberate distortion that has been introduced
these changes are actually not applied linearly and hence the distortion.. right ?

But how did you arrive at the beginning (is that possible...:^/). How did you
"calculate" that a life-size print would take a 3 feet wide print ? I can only
imagine that you set-up the scene then mark out the size of paper that is
required to fit all the scene in.. from the chosen vantage point .. and then
adjust accordingly..

Thinking about your earlier description of how you created the phantogram.. I'm
sure that it could be done completely within the camera (no need for the digital
manipulation) by using a camera with a tiltable film plane. As my friend has a 5x4
field camera I'm going to have a little experiment to see if its possible...

The whole idea of phantograms got me thinking about 3D objects that can exist in
our reality but can be rolled up and carried away.. like the cartoon joke of a portable
hole (ACME?). i.e.

A fire side rug complete with cat watching the fire...
A chair that doesn't actually exist.. try sitting on it...
Dinner plates with uneatable food permanently on them...
Drink mats complete with phantom cups..
Mouse mats complete with mouse...
Coffee table complete with coffee cups...
Shelves with built in ornaments...
