I thought long and hard about digital photography before
investing in an expensive stereo camera (RBT S1). I still
decided to spend the money rather than wait because:

       - Slides are easy to store and are still a widely accepted
media. For computers only CDs seem to have anything
close to the same staying power. For any other computer
media at present, be prepared to move your pictures to
each new media as they become popular.

       - When going on a trip it would take either a very large
number of memory cards, or a laptop with a good size
hard drive to store all the pictures I typically take.
Film is a pretty dense storage media and is fairly
robust. The biggest advantage of digital in this
area is the ability to delete pictures from the
storage media while out in the field, thus recouping
space for more pictures. But still don't think you'd
         come out ahead yet.

       - The quality of digital images just ain't there yet
when compared to traditional film. I think it will not be too
much longer, but it will then be some more time still before it
         becomes affordable.

I figure if I can get 10 years out of the RBT S1 before a
*compelling* digital equivalent comes along, I'll be happy.

							Later...BC
