>>Also, right now in eBay with 13 hours left to go:

Ed Romney's Stereo Realist Repair book is up to $50...

I might be mistaken but can't you buy this book new from the
author for $25 or so... (plus get a newer edition is there is one?)

Dok Tee, just to add to your story...Besides 3D stuff...and there are
commoon...in-print guides and items related to other hobbies like radio
or microphone collecting that I see go on EBAY for two to three times
what you can buy them for, new in stores or my mail. Who is to blame?
EBAY...nope.....not the EBAY seller either....NO ONE actually....its the
EBAY buyer who is deciding to bid those prices.

Look at the brand new toys that toy manufacturers and ad agencies whip
parenets and kids in to a frenzy for...making them line up at the retail
stores....camp out for hours...to make a mad rush to buy them up...so
many of them can resell them for two three times....or more...what the
retail is (Beanie Babies for instance)

Futhermore.....its always interesting to watch a collecting realm...and
see how the prices on EBAY often reflect guide prices......why?...well I
dont know...but I surmise that a lot of NEW or inexperienced collectors
that enter the EBAY arena, abide by the price guides. Those guides, in
most cases are either innaccurate, out of date....or in soome way self
serving to other besides the users. In time the new collctors learn
that the RARE item they think they won...is not all too rare...and not
worth the price they paid. We all learned that lesson once or twice or
three times with stereo equipment. 150.00 for a Brumbereger
viewer....is that too much?...maybe for those of use who have been
collecting and watching for a while....but not necessarily to the new
collector...whose heart jumps because the 3D bug bit....or because it is
a reminder of the childhood experience that once fascinated and gave
them great joy them...and they want to buy it back. Plus....all the time
it would take them to run around to flea markets and yard sales might
cost a lot more, than to pay a little bit more on EBAY. Jon G
