I've seen this demo, or one very much like it, before. Seems like a lot of
work, since amost all scanning software I've seen has a function for
reversing the image and accounting for the orange cast automatically. The
result is seldom right on the money (usually a tad too blue in my
experience) but it certainly gets you close enough that a little Photoshop
tweaking will give excellent results. I've created video box covers and
slick magazine ads with images scanned from negs and reversed by TWAIN, and
I've been extremely happy with the results.
