P3D heat seal mounts

I have shot realist slides for some years.  I usually cut the slides and
put them in slip in mounts to view in a hand viewer.  Those that I want to
use for competition or projection shows I put in glass mounts.  My
questions is, I have hundreds of slides in slip in mounts that I want to
keep but slip in mounts are getting expensive.  I was thinking of putting
my "seconds" slides in heat seal instead of slip ins.  I thought that the
"seconds" can then be aligned and mounted better than slip ins and will be
OK to project (upside down without falling out).

I would appreciate recommendations, tips and advice on my plan?
