Steinheil W A Lenses for the Stereo Realist
*******************************************
In early December (PHOTO-3D digest 3103) I asked for help with using a
recently acquired set of Steinheil 25mm W A Auxiliary Lenses for a
Stereo Realist.

Particular thanks go to Ron Fross <ron.fross@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> who even
retyped the original instructions and emailed them to me.

I have just mounted the first slides using this lens and I felt that I
should share my experience with these lenses.

As Ron Fross advised, no exposure correction is necessary due to the
large diameter of the auxiliary lenses. This advice at least saved me
the time and cost of a test film, thank you Ron.

The images are sharp, however there is slight vignetting at f16 and none
at f8 when used with my f2.8 Realist.

Direct sun light falling on the lenses results in a small coloured spot
close to the centre of each image. I will need to watch this in future.

The Realist with the auxiliary lenses is an awkward contraption to lug
around. However, the results are worth the effort. A 25mm lens
certainly gives a different perspective to an otherwise familiar shot.
