I believe there is a setting in the AOL
browser. Here is some info I found via
dejanews:
"I also believe that a lot of the problems
you describe about downloading images and not
liking their quality can easily be fixed by
turning off the compressed graphics option on
the default browser. It is turned on because
a great many netizens have slower modems and this
helps them get graphics quicker. But if image
quality is your concern then I would turn it off.
Especially if you are having problems with this."
And/or it could be the video card set to
256 bit colors as mentioned by some others.
