Light is the form of electromagnetic radiation that stretches from Xrays
to microwaves (~5nm to ~20 microns in length). Visible light is a much
narrower range, from 400nm to 750nm. Lasers (light amplification thru
stimulated emmission of radiation) operate through this range.
Such number are not absolute, but represnt a range. For example, If I
were to call 589nm sodium to be yellow, some may say that that is really
orange, and that the copper line at 578 is true yellow.....
Visible light is ideal for data display for humans. Thus we extend our
range of vision by probing the universe in other wavelength regions and
playing it back in the visible range. Electron microscope images and
atomic force microscope images are prime for stereo work. Why don't we
see more of this kind of material out on the web in stereo?
