Mike,
Some people on the list have expressed extreme dislike of non-ortho
stereo. These folks are apparently very sensitive to squash and
stretch. I think this varies from individual to individual.
Personally, I rarely notice stretch. I have noticed squash in terms of
reduced apparent depth in X2 images that have been taken at or near the
70mm extreme of my zooms.
So I think you're going to have to figure out whether you personally
find it objectionable. If you do, you'll want to match your viewer to
your taking lens and leave it at that. I find the zoom feature too
valuable to give up just because of a little squash or stretch.
But, as time goes on it's possible I may become more sensitive to it.
Hard to say.
