P3D My eye hurts

I have started trying out "chacha" style stereo pairs with my slr.  I
am finding that I have to squint my left eye when I look through the
viewfinder with my right eye, because the image in the finder is to
dark.
Any body have an idea of something else to do.  My left eye is sore
from the squinting.
I was thinking about wearing an eye patch, but then there is no way
anyone will think I am taking stereo pictures with my slr.
