I am a little bit slow tonight...
What does "precise stereo window" mean?
And how are these two related?
These are really unrelated concepts... The 1/30 guestimate
takes place during recording the pair while the stereo
window is controled during mounting. There is no such thing
as "precise stereo window" as different stereo workers follow
different practices. However, there are certain situations
considered "stereo window violations" and slides recorded with
excessive on-film deviation can make life difficult during
mounting with projection in mind. For many situations the
1/30 guestimate is a conservative rule of thumb that gives
some freedom for those who mount "to the window" (closest to
camera object positioned at, or close to the stereo window).
