  I don't know if he's dishonest, but this problem could
happen with even the best dealers on ebay (say dscamera@xxxxxxx
or even KEH Camera Brokers).

  They send out a viewer that is working but unknown to
them the AC wiring is hanging on by a thread. It breaks
in transit, short circuits, and then when you plug it in
it goes up in smoke.

  From their point of view they shipped out a working
product and this guy they've never done business before
has broken it and wants a refund. Some might give a
refund others might not. MALEK doesn't, it appears.

  Luckily I've never had to make a decision like that.
Though I probably would cough up a refund unless the
buyer's feedback indicated he was a cronic complainer
(lots of complaints against people with near spotless
ebay ratings).

  I'm sorry for your trouble, none the less.
