I am really puzzled by what might have gone wrong with Jim's Realist
green button viewer.  These viewers have a very well constructed
electrical circuit.  It is well enclosed and isolated from the
rest of the viewer (there is only mechanical contact of the switch 
when pressing the button.  Actually, it is even possible to use
the viewer in AC while you still have batteries inside it!

The cord is heavy and (unlike the Kodaslide II) I have never seen 
a viewer with damaged cord.  The only thing that can go wrong is the 
rheostat. 

If Jim wants to send me the viewer, I will check it out and post my
findings and theories on what might have gone wrong...
