"Modern" means "recently made, from a new design". "New" means "recently
made", but does not require a new design. The physical construction of
Mr. Babbage's Difference Engine a few years ago is "new",
but it's definitely not "modern". If somebody started manufacturing exact
duplicates of the 1950's Realist, the cameras would be new but not modern.

Not if somebody mentions stereo digital cameras.

Is P3D's failure to include reference to butter pecan ice cream in
its charter a snub of butter pecan ice cream? :-)

They seem in practice to function mainly as "pressure relief valves".

If they have such a tiny amount of traffic, how can they "severely weaken"
the main list?

A few readers have complained about extended specialized discussions on P3D -
now there are places where such discussions can be taken off-P3D.

I'll probably get around to subscribing to the new list in a week or two -
I'm interested in seeing if it results in worthwhile discussions.
(I'd subscribe right away, but I'm lazy. :-)
