P3D Make my own screen?

I am wondering about the possibility of making my own screen for 3D 
projection. I currently use a large 4X6 ft piece of white artists foam core 
board for a screen when projecting my wife's 2d slides. If I spray-painted 
one side with silver or aluminum colored paint, could this then be used as a 
non depolarizing projection screen? Has anyone had any experience trying 
something like this? Would I just be better off purchasing a screen for 
$130.00 plus S&H? Let me know what you think.
