P3D Mounting Guides/Dali Museum/Screens

Dear Friends:
I have several questions plus a few observations and comments for the group.
First a couple of weeks ago I wrote in questioning the feasibility of
constructing my own silver screen vs. the expense of purchasing one. Of the
responses I received about 80% advised that painting foam core board would be
a marginal solution at best. A few of you suggested that I try a local thrift
store (such as Goodwill/Salvation Army). I am happy to report that I found a
50X50 DA-Lite Silver Pacer screen at the Waterfront Mission Thrift shop in
little Ft Walton Beach, FL for $11.99! They also had a great selection of
various old cameras and projectors, thanks to all of you for the terrific
idea!
Next I have a question about mounting guides. I have just finished reading
the excellent tutorial on stereo slide mounting offered on the RMM home page.
I suspect that the separation of the near-point vertical lines on the
mounting guide is directly related to the mount being used. If I wanted to
try and produce my own guide would I separate the near-point vertical lines
by a distance equal to say right edge to right edge window separation of the
intended mount? And if so (or even if not) what is the proper offset for the
far-point vertical line. Finally on this subject, once the guide is produced
can it be photocopied onto clear stock such as used for overhead projectors.
My concern is that the copying process could produce some errors, i.e.,
either enlarging or reducing the image slightly. Your thoughts?
Finally; I have read with great interest the thread on Salvador Dali and his
stereoptic paintings. I believe that St. Petersburg, FL has a Salvador Dali
museum, does anyone know if the museum has either the paintings or
publications of the works in question?
As always respectfully submitted:
Mark H
