P3D Stereo Window

I have seen the effect in my own pictures (where the subject really pops
out) but really didn't know what I did right.

So basically (as I saw stated before) the window is 30 times the lens
separation?
Which on my Personal Stereo is 2.46 inches. This works out to around 6 feet.
Is that right?

(I'm sure this has been discussed at length here before, so sorry to clutter
the list)
