Power a pointer laser with two D cells and let it run overnight. It
should be mounted in a wooden box along with an unexposed holographic
plate near the other end. A short objective lens should have been glued
onto the end of the pointer. A black card is used to stop the beam.
The plate is at a 30 degree angle and the reflective object (plaster,
coins, rigid stuff) should be on the opposite side of the plate. The
light passes though the plate befor it illuminates the object. Assemble
in this order:
/
/
laser----- beam------ lens< divergent cone of light plate/object
/
/
Do not use film, use glass plates because they do not bend or creep
during exposure.
The box should be set on inner tubes on a heavy table in a remote and
soundless space ..
basements are good late at night sometimes. The divergant cone of light
should
be larger than the plate you are using - your box may be 36" long
Shaking the setup destroys the image completely .. shifting your weight
or breathing on the
setup is too much! Withdraw the card (or use a clever electromagnetic
device salvaged
from some old meter) and expose the 4x5"plate to 3mW for ten seconds.
Develop until 50% opaque - say 6min in D19. Fix. wash. fresh fix. wash
wash wash wash
archival - 100+ yrs.
