Thanks John! I wrote this book primarily for beginners, that's why
there are 4 out of 10 chapters on photography and stereo photography
in general. 10 years ago when I started in stereo with a Realist, I
wished someone had written something similar. But it is gratifying
to hear experienced stereo photographers, like John Dukes and Albert
Sieg who have been "past the Realist" for many years, say that they
enjoyed reading the book!
My next project: "Stereo Projection". I will use the very common
TDC projectors as the basis to explain stereo projection. I think
it is needed, judging from the many questions that come up here in
photo-3d and the renewed interest in stereo projection that I see.
For example, Dave Williams wrote:
>When we put some of my own slides in the projector, I was shocked.
>Compared to the others, they were flat and hard to view. They looked
>great in a Realist Viewer, but they fell apart on the screen.
That will be one of the main issues discussed in the book: How to
mount for projection, how to select images for projection, how to
predict when a stereo slide will look good in projection, how to
make stereo projection interesting. Plus everything you need to
know about setting the screen, adjusting the projector, screen,
polarizing glasses, selecting light bulbs, etc. And many
details about the TDC projectors, including unique modifications
like enlarging the apertures of the 716 for 7 sprocket slides,
rewiring the 116 to have the fan on without the bulbs and more!
That's something to keep me busy between now and the next NSA
convention!
