P3D Re: Jumping Through Hoops
I can sympathize with the battle for correct exposure. Actually, I'm
very happy with exposures using my OM-10/beamsplitter setup. It reads
the light falling on the film itself using a silicon blue cell. My
only reason for using a Nimslo or considering a FED is for those
times, like long bicycle trips, when I really want something smaller,
lighter, and more convenient. My stock answer when in doubt about
exposure is to bracket--forget the calculations and bracket. That's
murder with the Nimslo (same with two rolls of film in twin XA2's)--
eats up film like crazy. If you have time for separate metering,
great--you obviously have it down pat. By the time I did that, the
kids would be two miles down the trail! :-) And yes, in case
anybody wants to remind me, the FED weighs 2 1/2 times as much as
the Nimslo! Um, an RBT on a bicycle trip? Better have insurance! ;-)
