The big price increase is recent, but a smaller surcharge ($4.20) has
been in place for a long time. It is true that in the past, sometimes
the surcharge has *not* been charged, specifically by Targets in some
parts of the country, perhaps when other retailers are used as well.
Here in the Twin Cities MN, the film goes from Target to a local Qualex
lab which will *not* forward it to Kodak (even though they are
affiliated labs) because they choose not to offer this service. Perhaps
it would work with Kodachrome, though, if they routinely send the
Kodachrome on to Kodak. Hmmm. I have tried it a few times with E-6 film
with no luck. Some Targets in other parts of the country apparently will
send it on for stereo mounting without charging extra. If you can still
get this deal going forward, good for you. -Linda
