P3D New Elite Chrome

I had the opportunity to shoot fireworks from a terrace ( perfect
position) overlooking the city this past weekend. Typically, I would
have used Velvia but this time I tried a 2pack of the new Elite Chrome
Extra Color 100 slide film. The first roll was shot in daylight and I
later found it to be too " cold and flat" compared to Velvia. That
evening I used the second roll for the fireworks and WOW!! At f8, bulb,
and using the black card technique ( or black pillow in my case :-)) the
shots look amazing! The colors are saturated like Velvia, but the city
backdrop retained most of the natural colors. Approaching reciprocity,
the film delivered deep rich blues, and warmer, softer red hues that
enhance the photos. A great film for evening work IMO.
BTW....try not to use a pillow between bursts! The pillow slowed my
response down to where I can notice some disparity between the L&R
images. I guess the corner of the pillow case dragged in front of the
right lens a tad longer. Hey....I was a guest there....and
ill-prepared:-)
