Option 2.
Complete the above disassembly through "Put Plastic spool around spindle"
Now viewing from the end, there is a half circle slot the entire length of
the spindle.
Using a dremel drill or drill of choice - Drill a 1/16" hole into the top
and bottom endsof the spool right next to the spindle slot using the spindle
slot as your guide. This will allow you to slide a piece of 1/16" round
brass stock (available at any hobby store) parallel to the spindle. Result
is 1/2 of the stock rests in the spindle slot and the other half rests in
the top and bottom half circles you drilled in the plastic takeup spool. To
assemble put an itty bitty amount of grease on the spindle drilled half
circles to hold the brass stock in the plastic spindle. Place the spindl an
brass stock assemble into the camera with the brass stock at the bottom so
it does not fall out of position, now slide the steel spindle in from the
camera top through the plastic take-up reel. Re-assemble. Easier than it
sounds!
This allows for future disassemble and is very strong. I have done two like
this and never again had the problem reoccur.
Good Luck
