Al,

    You'r absolutely right on all points.  All I was attempting to do
was throw an umbrella over the image field, pointing out the major
spokes, if you will.  There are lumpers, and there are splitters.  I
lumped, and your're splitting.  Correctly, but still subcategorizing
insofar as the image per se is concerned......
    You added history/psychology to the mix, which is fine if we're
discussing the entire "art" field, but may or not be fair if all I was
addressing, and we were discussing, was the image, not the context of
the image  Lord, I hope art is more than line, shape,etc.
