This was the second-place winner in the recent 3D Movie/Video Competition
sponsored by the Stereo Club of Southern California. It is a fascinating
documentary on the Alaska Gold Rush using primarily stereo images of the
period (many of which demonstrate the almost documentary quality of scenes
recreated by Chaplin in "The Gold Rush"). While our judges invoked the
so-called "ten minute rule" on all of the other long-form entries, this
45-minute tape was viewed complete without being cut off prematurely, and
no one felt that it went on too long at all. If you have an alternate-field
video system, this is certainly worth adding to your movie collection.
