Hi Bob,
	What type of "slide" attachment do you have?  I hear that the ones which
use mirrors often result in washed out colours, due to light reflecting off
the front surface of the slide.  You can counteract this to some extent by
turning up the contrast of the image. I use a slide adapter with a
flourescent light panel in the lid, it shuts off the scanning light when I
scan slides so that I don't get washed out colours.
