I now have a "modified" Nimslo, so that the film wastage is not an
issue. The light weight was what initially attracted me to the camera
(for backpacking etc) when I got an unmodified one a few years ago. [I
have a Kodak Stereo that I take on canoe trips (in a dry box) where
weight is a little less important. The rest of the time I mainly use my
Realists.]
The other reason I wanted a Nimslo was for closeups using the two middle
lenses, and this seems to work rather well with the 12" closeup that I
have been playing around with so far. I also am aware that a variety of
makeshift closeups can be used with it (e.g. reading glasses + rubber
bands).
I do wish that one could as easily crop 4p (at least a little) as I
often do my Realist
format slides with Spicer mounts. I am a big fan of Spicers, with all
the different options including 5p, 4p, plus reduced height 5p and
reduced width 5p (closeups/4.5p?).
Prints are of course a popular option for Nimslo also, I just haven't
done this much yet.-Linda
