P3D yearbook stereo

Our 1997-98 yearbook had some stereo shots in it. We sold
little Reel-3D viewers to go along with it. But the editor
nixed the idea for 1998-1999. The budget had been cut, and
the idea was that since stereo pictures take up twice as much
space, there could be only half as many pictures. She wanted
to have as many pictures as possible. If I were the editor
(which I'm not), I would probably say that half as many
pictures would be fine, so long as they were _better_ pictures.
I am constantly weeding out shots from my own slide tray,
for instance. But she doesn't see it that way.
Then there is the problem of the people having to buy the
viewers (we just can't afford to give them away). It occurred
to me that the pairs could be for crosseyed freeviewing instead.
Then no viewers would be needed. This also might be better if
there are only a few stereo pictures in the book--nobody is
going to want to buy the viewer for two or three shots.
My first thought about this would be that it might make viewing
the pictures in stereo too hard for too many people, but I thought
I would throw the question out for discussion. It's just
theoretical at this point, anyway, since all I can do is offer
my advice to the editor. She doesn't have to take it, and as of
now there are no stereo shots scheduled for the 1999-2000 book.
