P3D FED manual exposure control

My brother, who "inherited" the trapped needle camera I
worked on long ago (a Yashica 16EE), told me that he
installed a manual needle for full exposure control.
I can see where this might be possible for the FED as well.
If carefully handled, the needle could exist in the same
slot as the auto needle, giving you the best of both worlds.
It would still be programmed exposure--variable from f/2.8
at 1/30 to f/16 at 1/650, or whatever the FED does--but
would be under the user's control and would work without
battery.
