I can freeview either way. Parallel (or should I say 
slightly divergent) I can freeview a standard 2 7/8 inch
stereopair, as close as ~11 inches. Cross-eyed slightly
closer, at aprox. 6 inches.

Regardless, I still much prefer a viewer (to get the 
bigger picture) and freeview as a matter of convenience
or when I wanna stretch 'em!
