RE: Nick Mertz says:"However, I do want to clear up the
misunderstanding above. The film I referred to WAS a black and
white film. I believe it was Kodak TCN400 which, under normal
circumstances, gets C-41 processing and yields black
and white negatives."
I am afraid Nick did NOT clear up a 'misunderstanding'! Actually the
film which produces b&W negatives is truely a colorless color film
and the images are dye images, hence the process in C-41. A
similar film has been available for years as Ilford XP-1 & XP-2.
This C-41 film gives negatives (and speed of 400) that are
extremely easy to print without dodging or manipulation. i.e. About
likie normal negatives with a master printer. If downrated in speed
the grainer gets finer and finer. Kodak just finally got on the
bandwagon. BobH
