P3D Parallax tech

Hi Folks,

We talk about parallax in stereo images all the time, as well as a
number of related phenomena, yet I'm unaware if there is an official
unit of measurement for parallax in stereoscopic images? I know of a
parallax unit used in Astronomy, but it's pretty specialized to that
geometry. Is there a different or similar unit for stereo photography?
If so, what is it's definition?

I know what it is and can calculate it, but wondered about what units to
use... In terms of astronomical parallax, a typical stereo photo has
parallax in the neighborhood of 9000... while all stars have a parallax
less than 1.

Of course there's the famous Maximum On Film Deviation factor and that's
measured in mm I think. But that's not precisely parallax itself, though
it's closely related to the parallax factor for objects nearest the
lens.

Thanks,
Larry Berlin
