In the madness of recent P3D days, it seems the way to get rousing
conversation going is to spout pure opinion, as I have, and stay away from
demonstrable facts. I anticipate more response, hot and cold to my
uncharacteristically pointed and ignorant remarks.
But let me hasten to say that I'm sure Ms Lake is a delightful person, who
is making the most of her gifts, whatever they may be. It is most likely
"sour grapes" on my part, as I'm sure no one wishes to see my bare bum in
an international journal, stereoscopic or otherwise. Please give Christi
my warmest regards.
Which leads to the question of what I would put in "Stereoscopy", were I
the editor, and unable to solicit more contributions (George has raised
this issue obliquely). The question is dreadful to contemplate, as I am
uniquely unqualified for the position. I would fail in perhaps more
spectacular fashion than anything previously imagined. But that is a moot
point. In ten years, or sooner perhaps, if some disgruntled P3D person
doesn't track me down and poke an eye out first, I may well accept the job
and gladly. If I become knowledgeable enough, tactful enough, and if the
ISU survives in a form that is worth preserving. I'll get back to you on
this then, George.
In the mean time, if there is a stereoscopic subject upon which anyone
feels I have sufficient insight to write an article, I will be happy to
break the ice - if that's what it takes to get more of the good swimmers
into the pool. I'm good for another year of membership at any rate, if
the crops come in.
Bruce.
