P3D Fisher-Price visit at N.Y. Toy Fair - New VM Products

As part of Toy Fair this week at the Jacob Javitz Center in New York City,
Fisher Price opened their N.Y. corporate offices to buyers and to the Press.
I was given the full tour of the View Master line for this coming year.
Fisher price continues to develop new products in their View Master line.
One of these items is the "View Master Discovery Channel Projector and
Telescope" This is an actual 18 power (900 mm) telescope with tripod legs
which doubles as a View Master projector. It comes packaged with, you
guessed it, the Discovery "Secrets of Space" reels. It will retail for
$19.99.
The other new product is the "3D Pocket Viewer" This is a self contained
viewer that holds 18 3D images on a continuous loop. This is a small flat
viewer that can fit in a shirt pocket. Geared initially to teen
entertainment sensations, the first two to be released will be "Brandy" and
Britney Spears" Future titles will include IMAX movies such as "T-Rex",
"Galapagos", and Siegfried and Roy"s "The Magic Box". Some titles will also
be sold in the usual 3 reel blister pack also - with the 3 aditional scenes.
Great idea for on-site sales as souvenirs at theaters and concerts, but
unfortunately the optics are not up to the standards of the conventional
viewer. Retail will be $4.99 - so for little more than the price of a 3 reel
blister pack, you are getting 18 3D scenes and a viewer. I'm sure there will
be many conversions by readers of this list, and probably all kinds of fun
removing the "loop" and remounting or whatever. Viewers will come in a
variety of colors.
Another change is that the Discovery reels will now be sold as Blister Packs
- but will still be recognizable as "Discovery Reels". New Discovery title
will be "Reptiles"
New reel titles soon to be released are: "Digi-Mon", "Veggie Tales", "T-Rex",
"Wild Thornberry's", "IMAX Magic Box", "Sharks", and "Disney Dinosaurs".
