I tried the Provia F as a possible replacement for Kodachrome 64 and
found it to have a terrible color shift on the red side. The provia
has a finer grain, but under identical shooting circumstances (indoor
with bare bulb flash), the provia is lacking in color range. I had a
model wearing denim on blue satin sheets. The Kodachrome matched up
nicely to what was in the room. The sheets where pale light blue, the
denim a faded medium blue. With the provia, the blues looked almost
identical. Both were over saturated. Also, the skin tones of the
model, a deep brown Asian skin tone, looked very reddish with the
Provia F. Needless to say, I won't be shooting the Provia again.
