I've had a great time doing close-ups with my Nimslo using the 6" and 12"
lenses from Technical Enterprises. I've also seen some beautiful Nimslo
close-ups shot with +2 reading glass lenses. I've recently been
experimenting with a rectangular magnifier that covers all four lenses. I
sent some 4 image negatives shot with this lense to 3-dx for lenticular
printing. I'll report on the results when I get them. It can be tricky to
compose close-up images with the Nimslo - the viewfinder isn't much help.
I'll often try a few different camera positions to see what will work. When
I get my aim and focusing correct I get nice sharp close-ups; the Nimslo's
seperation of 3/4" between each lense seems ideal for 1 foot shots. The
depth of field can be limited, although shooting in bright light (thus
smaller apertures from the auto-exposure) helps with this. Before shooting
with a closeup lense try putting a measuring tape up to the lense and taking
a picture. When the print is developed you'll have a good reading of where
the lense focuses. One of the big advantages of close-ups with the Nimslo
versus SLR slide bar shots is that you get to shoot in real time and can
make close-up baby pictures, bees on flowers and so on. Jim Harp
