What are the best mounts to use? An assorted variety is best. Paul
Talbot makes a strong case for reduced height mounts and he is
absolutely correct. As your mounting standards increase, so will your
needs for different style mounts. I preview everything in a slip-in
mount or 2x2 viewer. ( Realist or RBT X4 camera) From there the best
images go either in RBT's or Albions sandwiched in glass. Images that
need custom cropping or masking go into Spicer cardboard.
Images in purgatory ( not sure what to do with yet) remain in slip-ins
or a sorting tray for 2nd and 3rd looks. The rest are thrown away.
Unlike Dr.T who claims to mount everything ( are you still making this
claim George?) I'd say I mount 25-35% of my images.........not because
the balance of images are bad. I've just " raised the bar" on what I
consider the keepers. I would have thrown many good images away had I
not had a variety of mounts to choose from.
