P3D 1. Franka Splitter website? ( newbie )

I'm not an expert on camcorders, but I think they use rather small
image sensors and lenses that are relatively short in focal length.
So right off the bat the huge Franka, with its 110mm stereobase and
giant mirrors, is a poor match. It also has second-surface mirrors,
which are bad even in a larger format, because of the ghosting from
the front surface of the glass. I think it would be a recipe for
disaster. Another limiting factor for a small format is the width
of the bar down the middle of the beamsplitter image. For full-frame
35mm it isn't too bad, but to split a frame smaller than 24X36mm
in half with this device means taking up an awful lot of the useable
image area with the bar.

For those who are still interested in the Franka (and it has its niche,
or I wouldn't own one! :-) ), Steve Berezin has them now (it is no
longer called 'Franka'), and is working on getting front-surface
mirrors into them. I have a set for mine, but due to new job
responsibilities don't know when I can put them in. :-(
I think it will be great for telephoto shots with an 85mm lens.
I'll have to modify it so I can toe the mirrors out, but due to its
simple plastic construction, that shouldn't be too hard.
Steve has a website, but I don't think the splitter is on it yet.
