There are several different film recorders that utilize "fixed-pin register" 
shuttles in their film transport (mechanisms usually manufactured by Oxberry. 
$100K+ range). Many outfits in Calif. offer these services (Pacific Title, 
E-Film, and AlphaCine in Wa.).  The problem is finding the ability to output 
8-perf instead of conventional "Academy 4-perf".  The answer to this is to 
locate a service which provides output to VistaVision. That format requires a 
fixed-pin 8-perf shuttle. The above mentioned outfits provide this service 
but be prepared for a 100 ' min.  This could run $700 minimum.
