Actually, I think there may be a very paractical reason, illustrated in a old 
stereo view posted not long ago (I think by Dan Shelley) of a Keystone 
production line.  It showed stacks and stacks of view cards, all curled.  In 
my experience, with my flat cards, I can stack them only about 20 high before 
they begin to slide, or at least become unstable.  Curved cards are as stable 
as lego blocks, no matter how high they are stacked.  Could it be the curve 
is simply a matter of manufacturing expediency???
